A little story about how I made music for the Hollywood movie, "Cowboys and Aliens"

This is such a great reminder of how nonlinear creative careers actually are. The fact that music written for a small, local theater project ended up showing up in a Hollywood feature is wild, and kind of perfect. Love seeing behind-the-scenes like this, especially the message for new artists… you never really know where the work will land, so it’s worth taking everything seriously. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Red 😊 Great to get your feedback. I just got on Sleeve and it feels good to just share stories and, like you say, behind-the-scene stuff from the life of music creation/production etc. Still a little unsure about the balance. But nice to feel closer to the people you’re talking to. What are you doing, yourself ?

The balance tends to reveal itself once a few people start responding to specific things… you notice what sparks questions, what gets the quiet nods, what people come back to.
For me, I’m mostly playing right now. I’m in a band that plays the Django Reinhardt–era repertoire, so a lot of the focus is simply letting people know where and when we’re playing. But I’m also realizing there’s room to share bits of the music life more broadly… process, context, why certain things matter. It’s nice to have a place where that feels natural rather than purely promotional.
